Billy Crickets is the go-to restaurant when a friendly atmosphere, great service and fantastic food are at the top of your list.  In 1996, local resident Billy Smith envisioned great casual dining in Lancaster, and opened Billy Crickets. He wanted to give Lancaster residents something beyond that of a corporate chain. The playful name came from Billy’s first name, and the childhood nickname of his grandmother, Cricket.  Billy chose to honor is grandmother–and her passion for life–in this new adventure.

To open his new restaurant, Billy selected a landmark building once owned by the Grilli Family. Valerio Grilli opened Valerio's in 1955, serving fine Italian food. Ironically, Billy’s parents celebrated their wedding reception at this popular restaurant. Grilli’s then occupied the space with what most considered the greatest pizza in Lancaster. Billy took on the challenge of taking this landmark restaurant and making it his own.  He completely remodeled the entire restaurant and bar area, and created an eclectic menu filled with irresistible food and drink.

After 12 years of success, Billy remodeled the restaurant again–giving the space a more comfortable feel with warm colors, high-end lighting, beautiful artwork and soft fabrics.  Today, the restaurant boasts a nice-sized seating area, stunning bar and two fabulous banquet rooms.  A full-size outdoor smoker gives Crickets a reputation for the best barbecue in Lancaster.
